Greenpeace Protest
Last month in Ottawa, Greenpeace started a protest against the oil pipeline. This is something I feel very strongly about. I could not be more against this pipeline and the tar sands in Alberta.
Unfortunately I was stuck in Toronto at the time but if I had been in Ottawa would I have joined in?
Probably not.. It was a peaceful protest but people were still arrested (for climbing over barriers?) I would most likely haev been too afraid of getting arrested.
I really have to get over that fear. I want to join in protests etc even fi it means I could get arrested. It would be worth it. What is best for society and the environment is more important than me getting arrested.
Whenever Im feeling lazy and want to just throw garbage on the ground or not recycle soemthing cuz the garbage is closer or something like that I always tell myself I have to do it for the earth. Cuz even one piece of garbage can make a difference. What if half the world population threw out one thing that could have been recycled? Thats almost 3.5 billion pieces of garbage.
I tell people that sort of thing a lot.. they get annoyed but thats okay :)
So next time I wont be too afraid to join in a protest even if I could get arrested. And all of you better remember that garbage thing whenever you consider disposing throwing some on the ground! :)

In case you dont know, those swirly light bulbs have mercury in them. So do not break them or throw them in the garbage!
I repeat, if you use them, DO NOT put them in the garbage, take them to the hazardous waste facility (in peterborough its at the recycling center)
But I think you just shouldnt use them. If they break, mercury can be absorbed through the skin and its the most toxic metal on earth.
